sunburn sensation

I'm having a stupid flare. Started a few days ago. I've got a new symptom this time. In addition to more joints involved, I now have a bad burning of my skin like a sunburn. Mostly on my arms and face. Have any of you had that symptom?

Hi Brenda.

This is one of my most annyoing symptoms. Yes, I get it.

I don't know why. Sometimes -when I do get it though, you can almost see like a red mottling on my arms and legs.

I sympathize with you because it is very bothersome !

I too have burning when I'm in a flare (which seems to be all the time). My entire scalp gets very red and burns. No fun :mad: .

I have the sensation, but there is not visible sign of it.

Girl! The last few days my face and neck are on FIRE!!! My joke is that it will ignite at any moment! I am so new to all of this so I have no words of wisdom.

I did use a cold cloth on my face the other day and that helped. Some suggested here a cortisone cream. Some here in my thread about this said that Plaquinil (sp?) helped. But I will let the more experienced here give you advice.

I forgot to add my scalp is also on fire! These areasare red. I am not taking anything right now b/c it just started. I suggest talking to your doctor.

Yes I too get the sunburn like feeling on my face in particular, mainly across my forehead. My arms also become quite a mottle red like colour. This only happens when I am flaring. Good luck.

Thank you, but do any of you get this without the visible change? I have no redness or anything. Just the feeling of it.

Yes I have no visible signs of redness or anything like that, just the burning sensation. Quite annoying really

My face is on fire today along with the rest of my body, I guess I should go take my temperature, but something tells me the burning up, swollen lymph nodes, facial rash and fatigue mean I'm flaring.

Let's hope its a short one for us.

From what you all describe - I am not alone !

so it probably does mean that you are flaring...... I am just glad that I am not the only one because I was starting to think I was going mad.......

Lily-I hope you feel better soon! I have felt so bad the last few months that I have been in one big giant neverending flare up! I will believe that if u are having one that it is MUCH shorter!

my face always feels like it is burning. just more or less on somedays. it goes with my flares, and how tired I am. a good friend of mine at work used to notice and tell me when it was time to take a break. now I have to rely on myself to remember when it gets worse to rest
cool cloth helps.but sleep in the best for me
