So, I have been MIA for a little while and truthfully feeling a little guilty for that sorry :( In any case, I find myself coming here for guidance when I cant find any anywhere else...
Has anyone experienced numbness while you were sleeping? After 6 years of this disease I thought I had seen it all...but I wake up every 45 minutes with needing to turn over to another side to cause something...like my hip, leg, hand, arm has gone numb. During the day, just sittin still makes my legs go numb.
Then i have this other issue of my legs being bruised and even when i cant see a bruise I feel like it is bruised...
All the docs have done so far i put me on pred again...high dose, taped down, yada yada yada. Just wondering if anyone has been through any of this and any words of the advice.
Love to you all!!
Robin

Hi Robin
I can sure relate to both problems. I tend to toss and turn at night, due to numbness, and I get allot of numbness while sitting. I also have horrible huge bruises on my legs, which in my case is caused from APS.
I was given high doses of Pred as well, but it didn't help that much. I think I would keep going back to the doctors, until they give you some kind of answers to all of this. Sorry I don't have better advise for you, but it's hard to say what could be causing your numbness and bruising.
I hope you get some answers soon, keep your chin up, your not alone.
Stay Well Jude:)

Hi Robin,
I would pursue this, there has to be a cause and maybe something other than prednisone would work for it. I have this trouble and know how miserable it is not to sleep. No answers for me yet either but my docs are pursuing it. Hope you find relief soon.

I also toss & turn all night. Often wake up with numbness and tingling in my hands and arms. I know it's from carpal tunnell. I also bruise easily. Have you seen MD lately? Checked your platelet count? Hard to sleep when you're so uncomfortable!

Hello Robin!
I have trouble with both of these issues:
1) I have experienced numbness and tingling, not necessarily at night but i have it a lot. I have noticed that when i lie down lately to watch TV i find my arms going numb quickly. I restarted a medication this week that has helped me quite a bit with this in the past. The name is Lyrica. It is for nerve pain and has helped me with the numbness and tingling in the past.
2) Bruising- i do not have bruises that you can see but i definitely have many areas on my body that feel bruised when you touch them. I do not know anything about that issue except that i have it, so i have no advice to give. Sorry.
I hope you feel better.

I have this problem too...When I lay down , especially on my back , my legs feel numb from hips down and arms go numb...I have found some relief by using a thick memory foam topper on my bed to reduce pressure points
Medication tried over last couple years didn't seem to help

Good point soundy! I also have a memory foam topper which is on top of a fiberbead. That helps too! Also, i have used a body pillow to raise up one leg while i lay on my side. That helps also.

8) I'm glad you broght up this subject because I started having the same problem a couple of weeks ago and I knew it was something I didn't have before.
Sometimes one of my legs go numb and tingly when I'm laying down, sitting here in the computer or even while I'm driving.:worried: It only feels better when I get up and walk around.
I already take a baby aspirin everyday and walk on the tread mill 3x week, so I don't know what else can I do.
Last week I went to see my GP to follow up on my thyroid and to adjust (again) my meds. I mentioned this leg numbness problem and all she said was "Is just a Lupus thing" talk to your rheumy about it.
I know someone mention APS but my current rheumy told me once that I was APS + and then the next time I saw her she said, "No, you don't have APS":? .
Does anybody know what are these symptoms related to? Do they get any worse? Is it a neuro or APS?
Thank you for your help. 8)

I too get this and off and on though.
It is the "On" time for me now. I also notice, not only at bed time, but if I am watching tv and keep my leg a certain way or my arm, and not for long either, it goes to sleep.
I think it is the cirulation that gets effected every now and then.

I have used the pillow between the kness too... it relieves pressure of leg pulling at hip joint
This has been going on before DX and my doctor thinks it is do to poor circulation around joints... it is worse for me when I am having more inflamation at joints...

I have had this problem from the beginning, and now after a year and a half it seems to get better. I think that when I get a flare up, it starts again. This lupus thing is really hard.
