Hi all just wondering if cough sweats make you come out in a rash? I had a sore throat last week and thought it was start of the flu my family had just had hubby was real bad with it and youngest daughter, well i started with sore throat and just thought i would get some throat sweats i am a little worried about what to take as on so many tablets don't want interactions so thought the sweats would be ok..Well by tea time i started feeling my face burn and said to hubby is my face red is reply was no looks ok but within half an hour it was getting worse and also my hands where burning..i looked in the mirror and i was as red as beetroot was worried then my husband turned round within half hour blotches all over my skin (like the ones on my picture on here) I was worried by then and said best phone doctor and was told to go to hospital and get looked at as no doctors on call due to it being friday eve at 9pm..I got there and doctors said you look like you just got out of sauna and asked what i had eaten i first thought it was the gravy my husband had made with wine in, as i am unable to drink anything without rash,The doctors said it was an allergy to something so went home all was going away by next morning and still my sore throat so eating another couple sweats the face burning came back and so did rash all over body.I am wondering what can be in throat sweats to cause this? I haven't had another since and rash as gone.
as anyone had same reaction to throat sweats.
thanks for help susan x

Hi Susan
Im sorry that this happened to you. It must have been very frightening:hugbetter:
Its impossible to say if these throat sweets caused your reaction but it sure does sound like it - especially if your docs said it was an allergic reaction and it came back after trying some more of the sweets. It could be a reaction to any one of the ingredients in the sweets or a combination of them and as there are so many different brands out there its just hard to tell what caused what. Sometimes you can find out these things by googling an ingredient and a particular med you are on and seeing if there are any contra-indications but it can take a while to get to the bottom of it and then sometimes you might never be really sure without trying the ingredient again....not recommended..:worried:
I hope you are feeling better today
Luv n stuff

Hi thanks joan, yes since i stopped eating them it's not happend again i was little worried due to the medications i am on, my daughter did say yesterday the doctor told her to stop taking any decongestiants due to her raynauds as he said lemsips etc can make symptoms worse,i know the rash isn't raynauds but proves you have to be careful what your taking.
Thanks love susan x

Hi Susan,
I had some throat lozenges/sweets recommended by my pharmacist of all people and had terrible reactions I felt like I'd taken something illegal , I was struggling to keep upright, something had obviously interacted badly with my regular meds, they worked on my throat but the reaction was terrible different to yours but still they must use very powerful ingredientsin these things, hope you're feeling and 'looking' much better by now
love and hugs
Sue xx
ps mine were merocaine throat lozenges

Just thought I would add.
I have a rash hot red looking, more like nettle rash ,tho hard to tell sometimes.
Coincidently I also had throat sweets just before it came out.
I never ever usually take anything like that.
Maybe it is coincidence because I also had a red rash in back of throat with what i think are my first noticable ulcers, which was before the sweeties.
Its interesting even if it is merely coincidence.
