I havew posted before about my daughter nicole. And her test results I was just looking at them and gathering because she is seeing an allergy/immunologist next month. I just noticed that I already knew her ANA was borderline but it has a homogeneous pattern (what does that mean?
Thanks again everyone

Hello

This pattern is often associated with SLE. However it isn't proof of SLE. As you know each test result has to be considered along with other test results and symptoms.

I don't know what patterns are found in causes of an elevated ANA apart from lupus.

Also the ANA Pattern can change and results can depend on the lab doing the tests

Has she ever had complements tested ?

Some of the sites say that when the pattern is homogenous even low titres should be tested for anti ds DNA antibodies. I have no idea how valid that is
Were further antibody tests ever done despite the borderline ANA ?

All the best

Clare

Hi

Your response is puzzling. I know perfectly well your daughter has celiac disease but I thought you were still investigating the possibility of lupus.

If lupus is still a possibility then the complement tests should be done and it would be prudent to get the other lupus related tests done, despite the low level ANA.

ESR and CRP are measures of inflammation, from any cause, any immune system activity, could be to infection.

Chronic low complement levels, deficiencies, can be responsible for lupus like diseases and many other childhood health problems.
