Hi Emma:)
If you already have insurance I dont believe there is any onus on you to tell your insurance company about any diagnosis you have had since taking out your insurance. Certainly I never heard of that.
A word of caution however....it is next to impossible to get life assurance with a pre existing condition like SLE and even if you do it would be very expensive.
So if you havent sorted out your insurance stuff then its best to do it now before any firm diagnosis:)
Luv n stuff

As regards existing insurances of any sort I suggest reading the terms and conditions very carefull to see if there is any mention of having to report changes from when the insurance was taken out. Just in case failure to disclose means any claim won't be met.
I have heard of someone who had a renewable insurance denied after diagnosis. Or maybe she was trying to change the terms and got refused.
The insurance was that one that pays your mortgage if you get sick or lose your job. I can't remember what it's called, sorry.
If you are asked about your health and give a false answer the insurance will be invalid.
You can discuss the issue separately. For example if you have had lupus for a certain number of years and are stable the premiums wouldn't be as much as if you are recently diagnosed and have active lupus with organ involvement. But they would still be higher than for a healthy person.
That's because if lupus is going to turn real nasty, it usually does within the first few years.
Good Luck

?
'Discrimination' is the whole basis of the insurance industry, which is risk assessment. You can get insured but at an increased premium.
