Hi there , I have not been dx with Lupus but I have some overlapping symtoms, highly allergic to sunlight, painful shoulder, knee joints, extremly tierd, anemic etc anyway Iam under the care of a dermatologist at my local hospital, she has referred me to the derma unit at Manchesters Hope Hospital for a full diagnoses (which in my 20 yrs of being allergic to sunlight I have never had). Any way my question is would be dermatologist run similar blood tests to a Rumey ??

A good dermatologist will look at all your symptoms, and want to rule out lupus so may either order some blood tests themselves, or refer you to rheumatologist. I think a few people here have been diagnosed (more or less) by a dermatologist after positive blood tests and/or a biopsy of the rash.
Good luck!

justjanineuk - just has Maia said i was diagnosed with Lupus by my dermatologist after she ran blood tests and through a skin biopsy on my rashes. I am not under a rheumatologist and havent seen a rheumatologist since being diagnosed in sept 06. Not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing.

Thanks Maia and Bev, that has eased my mind with my Dx at least when I get my appointment @ Hope Hospital Manchester I know that all bases will be covered.
