Hi roxie,

My clinic does a second test for anything over a 5.0 INR. That's when the risks for internal bleeding becomes a concern. Vitamin K is found in greens like spinach and lettuce and will counter the effects of Warfarin (Cause your INR to drop). They tell me to keep a steady diet so my dosage will stay steady. Changing once in a while is ok, won't effect it that much. A med change can make the biggest difference, you have to check the warnings. A lot of meds effect Warfarin.

Going a couple of days without taking Warfarin is fine. It may even take a few days more at a lower dosage to get you back to 3.5. I found it takes me 2 weeks to show a stable IRN, so it may take a little bouncing around dosages since it's so far out of whack.

Don't worry, 1.6 is the minumum theraputic INR number, so your target 3.5 is right in the middle of both limits. Take care :)
