Hi All,

So last year was horrendous - I had both knees discloate and had to have tendon repairs on both as a result. To add to this I had a tendon replacement on my right index finger as well as having shrinking lung syndrome - not a whole lot of fun!

As a result, my Dr pushed for me to have Ritixumab over christmas. I've since been back and had the wires removed from both knees (once again one has healed better than the other but never mind)

I have since been feeling much better and I am due to visit my Dr this afternoon. I have managed to drop to 2.5 mg per day of Pred and have begun to lose weight. I have been given a letter by my local gym to get a Dr referral so I can have a subsidised membership for 10 weeks with the help of a personal trainer. In addition, after this period, they will offer me a reduced rate on a monthly membership and a further 5 weeks with the PT!

I have also managed to get back to college twice a week on my night course and have exams in 8 weeks - this is in addition to working full time. As a result of hard work, the team I work with won an award and last week spent 2 days in EuroDisney! I walked for miles, went on every fast ride I could find, went out drinking until 3.30am (not necessarily the best idea) and went to a nightclub for a dance! I even got sun burn (again- not very sensible) and was fine.

So all in all, I feel as though I am getting my life back and re finding the Amanda I was BEFORE Lupus - very satisfying!

Anyways, just wanted to share my experiences with any of you thinking that there is no light at the end of the tunnel. I hope you are all well and one day get to be where I am right now :)

Amanda
