Shingles

Good Morning Everyone,

I had a bout of the shingles on my face at the beginning of April. I saw the dr. they gave me Valtrex and they seemed to have gone away after 2-3 weeks. Then I got a bout on my back last week, so I am on the Valtrex again, they are almost to the scabbing point, so they seem to be going away as well. Now, this morning I awoke to what appears to be another spot on my face. Do they come and go like this? Is this normal to have bouts in different places and then they reoccur?

When I have my shingles breakouts, it seems they appear all over my body and rarely in the same place twice. Why they do this is beyond me, someone else might come along and be able to tell us.

As for why you keep breaking out, another good question. You may need to take a longer prescription on the Valtrex or you may need to switch anti-virals. Talk to your doctor. you may need to remind him that you keep breaking out. He may not realize just how often and how close in time they are to each other.

There is a shingles injection that lessens the reoccurrence and/or severity of outbreaks...check with your Doc about it. Also, how compromised your immunity level is can affect how your repeat outbreaks.
