Hi,
I know that mouth ulcers are a common symptom of lupus and I have been getting them for ages now. Usually they are on my tongue or gums. But lately, Ive been getting them under my tongue and they are quite large, red, painful and look like a lump. Im quite worried....
Does anyone else get this? If so, what can I use to treat it?
Thanks
Martha

Hi Martha,
Yes, I get them too and sometimes they can be really painful. Just another wonderful thing we have to put up with. I'm not sure how to lessen the pain or to get rid of them faster. Maybe someone can help us both.

I do a basic warm water and salt swish and spit. It seems to help me, not to say that it will help anyone else.

:( Hi Martha, I am so sorry that you are in such pain , I do know how you feel cause I am trying to come to the end of mine now, and I can't quite get it all cleared up. Mine were under my denture plate , on my gums, I could not eat, it hurt to talk, well , you know the rest. Good gravy, I would have to eat dog food than go thru this again. I have found two possibilities. the first oneis helping and I am using it now; It is a liquid that you swish in your mouth ( take your dentures out first ) for a minute or so, then spit it out. It is by prescription and is called " Magic Mouthwash" and you only use about a tablespoon at a time ,4 times a day, and it doesn't taste bad either, don't swallow it. the other one I havent tried yet, but I have fopund a lot about it. It is called " Adcortyl Paste, in orabase."
I called my pharmacy, but I got some newby. But I did find out that , as far as I know, it is over the counter, probably where the oragel for babies is. What you do is dry the inside of your mouth first, then apply a thin layer of this white paste to all your sores, then leave it alone, for how long I do not know. They said that as the saliva comes back inside your mouth, this paste will not dissolve it will stay on the ulcers. I am going to buy that one just to have in the car probably. My problem is that now I can't eat, andwhen I talk, it just rubs them raw. I hope that this helps , please let me know. ((((((hugs, gentle with love, and no hurting))))).
