i had that letter too and my doctor contacted me just to check what i could and could not do. That was about six weeks ago...i heard nothing then for about a month but had a DLA home assessment a week ago as they needed further information.
I think they ask your doctor for a report as a matter of course so don't worry that it's the start of them refusing you.
I haven't heard yet whether i qualify for DLA either and i applied sometime in January i think origninally (when i made the first phone call). These things do seem to take so long don't they.
best wishes to you and good luck with your claim

I think this is just a standard letter they send everyone. I had one too last year when I claimed. it then took about 8 weeks to recieve a letter saying that I was eligable. (I too was convinced I would be refused)
I think it would only take longer if your gp delayed in sending in report/letter.
Good luck.

Hi Moni
I was awarded the middle rate care component. I have a lot of trouble with my hands, so I need help with cooking etc, sometimes dressing, open my pill packets (yes it can be that bad). I was also awarded it for 5 years. Which was a relief, as it took me weeks to complete the forms because of my hands and I'm too stubborn to ask for help.
Just make sure on the forms you put how you are/were on your worse days - I found that a real struggle, as some days I'm not too bad.
Please let me know how you get on.
Tracey

IT may help to walk around with a little notebook so you can write down when and with what you have difficulty. Our memories are not always reliable. Also please keep copies of what you submit, they are useful for Appeal if necessary or for your Next Renewal Claim if granted.
I have had DLA for quite a long time and always needed to jog my memory. If it is any encouragement to you I now get both mobility and care for an indefinite period. (I am pretty useless though) The money does help take some of the strain away, I would recommend anyone to try for it.
I know I am lucky not to have had too much trouble claiming but I was pretty ill.

PS What may have helped was when one of the Examining Doctors accidentally drove her car right across our Front Lawn!!! She was mortified and very nice to me!!!

Hi Moni ,
Don't get too worried I recently got awarded my DLA and the process took a couple of months from start to finish. They wrote to my doctor but I also provided a quick hand written letter from my Rheumatologist to speed up the process as I think SLE is such a misunderstood disease!
I also had a full medical from the DLA doctor at home which wasn't too bad.
Just stick with and try not to get too frustrated just remember it's all in the wording and the doctor advised me that if you say you have "good days" they will count them as "normal" days and more than likely affect the amount of your award - if any so just be weary of how you answer things and be very very hounest. ;)
I hope all goes well for you.
