The Guidelines for the Forum state
* Please keep posts in standard English language, avoiding the use of shortened words and 'text speak' as many of our members have problems understanding such posts.
The Moderators are going to enforce this rule in the same way as they enforce the guidelines about unsuitable language, references to religion, unacceptable punctuation.
That basically means three strikes out:
There will be an advisory notice, followed by a warning, then suspension for whatever period of time we decide is suitable in each case. The first two will be by forum PM ( Private Message) but the suspension notice will come up automatically when you next try to use the message board.
These three steps together take up at least 15 minutes of our time, the equivalent of one post less responded to.
Members are strongly advised not to use any text speak at all - we can't be expected to spend our precious time deciding where to draw the line in each case.
The Moderators' decisions are final.
Chat Room
A few widely used chat room acronyms are acceptable in the chat room.
They are
BRB: Be Right Back
WB: Welcome Back
OK or K
TKS or TY or TX : Thank you
BF: Boyfriend
DH, DS, DD: Dear Husband, Son, Daughter
The In- Laws:
MIL, mother-; FIL, father-; SIL, son-; DIL, daughter-.
LOL & lol: Laughing out loud. (These will automatically translate into smilies :) )
ROFL: Rolling on floor laughing
ROFLMAO: Rolling on floor laughing my *** off
ROFLMAOPIMP: Ditto, while peeing in your pants
There are a few others that are occasionally used like TTFN: tata for now,
BBL: Be Back Later, IC: I see; CofC cup of coffee; etc.
CU L8tR; n; skl; d or da; are examples of what is not acceptable
Chatters are expected to use their common sense and good judgement, never forgetting to be friendly & courteous to all, intelligible, supportive, and not to exclude others from the chat in any way.
