Hi all,
I went in the chat room, but nobody is there.
I really wanted to talk instead of post about this. But I can't stand it anymore.
I went to my GYN this past week because I am having problems........
I had a totally hysterectomy years ago.
He said he thought me problem might be psychosomatic! That or possibly a cyst somewhere. well, I don't have any parts left to have a cyst on.
So, he must think I am crazy. This is the doctor who was the first one to say I had Lupus & needed to see my rheumy! I feel betrayed.
For the first time in a long time, I am thinking maybe I am crazy. Maybe my meds cause so many side effects that I need to quit taking some of them. I am so upset & confused.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!! What is it with some doctors??!!!!!! "I can't think what could be causing the problem within my specialist knowledge area, and I am completely brilliant, so therefore it must be all in your mind!!!"

I call it the "Pill or Prozac" approach to women's health. You've had a hysterectomy so in his mind that really only leaves one avenue left (unless of course you're over-weight too which gives them another all-sweeping avenue to go down!!)!!! :faint:

Think Calm. Deep Breaths!! Ohhmmmmmmmmmm!!:calm:

Hi Maxx I'm sorry your dotor has made you feel confused. I think we have all been where you are right now, you know in that crazy place. Doctor's seem to always play the psyhcosomatic card, when they don't know what the problem is. I have no idea as to what could be wrong with you and wouldn't even try to guess, but I hope you feel better soon.

Hugs Jude:)

Hello Maxx,

Do you have a GI doctor? Have you ever had a colonoscopy? I don't know exactly what problems you are having but perhaps they are more easily diagnosed by a GI doctor.

Let us know how you get on.

Take care,
Karen

Karen,
I did have a colonoscopy recently. It was fine. That was my first thought also. When I think back to that and my GYN, I really start thinking I might be crazy!
I am so tired of being sick, going to the doc and complaining. It is exhausting.......I know most of you can relate.

One more avenue to conisider is urology as there are some bladder problems that can cause chronic pelvic pain and they often go undiagnosed. Many women treated for endometriosis for instance continue to have problems and only when treated for their bladder problems does the pain diminish or go away. You can do a quick search on the internet about it... and then hopefully muster up the courage to move on.

I REALLY WISH doctors would just be able to sometimes say "I don't know". Instead, they feel like they must come up with something, so put it on a patients mental health as that is they only thing they can come up with.

Maxx, I'm so sorry your dr. blames you just because he can't figure it out! What a copout!

My (former) dentist did that too when my mouth was still screaming a couple weeks following getting a new crown (I have Sjogren's).

And before I was diagnosed with lupus, I went to a GP because my leg was numb from the knee down. He laughed (!) at me and said, "And I bet you're worried you have lupus or MS, right?" Well, yeah. Then he told me not to worry about it. End of appt.

My sister was diagnosed with MS and later I was dx'd with lupus, so gee, guess I had cause to worry. There are times when I wish an undiagnosable illness on these sorts of drs. I know it's a horrible thing to say, but they are also saying horrible things and it can get tiring. In my worst moments, I imagine them running from dr. to dr. worried.

I wish I had some suggestions to help you search out the source of your pain, but I don't. Just wanted you to know that most of us have been in that place and empathize tremendously with you.

Maia, I have been to the Urologist......that is a whole new subject. Sexual problems not from there. It was a great idea though! I already tried it.
I cancelled my ultrasound with the GYN. I was afraid if they found nothing, I would really think I am crazy.

JMACA, I also have Sjogrens & have the worst dental problems. I always have trouble with crowns, root canals etc... They never go right. I have an undersatanding dentist. I sure hope you do now. I saw you wrote (former) dentist!

Overall most of my docs are good, I hate it when one of them makes you feel crazy again. I am over my rampage about the GYN now.

Thanks for all of the support!:)
