I took early retirement due to Lupus, 5 years ago at 45.
I was a home carer & just couldn't do the job I was in a worse state than some of those I was looking after
Worse day of my life, being told your too ill to work, & they couldn't find me another job in the department, cos my hands & wrists are so bad I can't type well all the time, I use a speech program at home & that helps me use the comp. I'd be lost without this computer.

Had to give up aged 43 when the Boss caught me crawling up to the toilet on hands and knees! Should never have left it so long!

btw, people who work don't have nearly as much spare time for the computer, so I this poll will definitely lean in the not working direction which I strongly suspect doesn't reflect the population of lupus sufferers as a whole

I had to give up working in 91 due to health issues. I'd love to be able to go back to work.

Well unfortunatel i did take an early retirement i guess that is what you call it. I waited until i was basically dragging myself everyday to work and coming home in such pain and wow the faitigue was horrible but thought being a janitor i thought maybe it was from the job. Well i am sure the stress of it was part of it but i really did not get much better after leaving until i learned to pace myself at home and ask for help when needed from kids and family. I use to wish i was working because i felt guilty hubby was caring the household income and i ahd not worked at all since i was 17 and i was 42 when i quit work to.I used to think well maybe i could of done a secretariol job but no way could of have sat for that long it makes me so sitff it is unreal. Well you just wanted to know if i worked or not but you got alot more:rotfl: .Do not feel bad if you cannot work because of the lupus trust me it might be the best thing for you and great to the ones that still can work to but be careful everyone take care of yourselves first before worrying about the petty stuff like housework.

I retired from my library job at age 52. I am now 55. I received SSDI on the first try. Too many doctor's appointments, medications and fatigue forced me to stop working. I am better now but I am sure if I tried to work it would make the Lupus worse.

I have to take Raglet's point. There are also a number of other factors.
The site was hit badly in the last year by hackers and viruses which I know from experience that some workplaces will have banned access to the site.
I work in IT and would log on during the day but can no longer do so. For those that work and have families they may only log on once a week or so.
