I got a letter from the hospital yesterday saying that they are booking me in for an ultrasound test. Does anyone know what this is for as I have no idea.
Thanks

hi Martha
An ultra sound can be done for dozens of different reasons, so I think the best idea would be to ring your doctor and ask why you were referred for an ultrasound.
Does the letter tell you which part of you is going to be scanned? This may give you a clue as to why you are having the test.
very mysterious, don't you just hate it when doctors refer you for tests without mentioning it

Yes - I hate that! The letter just says an ultrasound procedure, nothing else!
I thought it was only done when you were pregnant so was abit confused!

no, they do them for lots of other things too - I once had an ultrasound of my kidneys, and also at various times of my legs (looking for clots). So you can have them for lots of different reasons. A friend had an ultrasound of her breast when she had a cyst, so I think that the reasons you can have ultra sounds for are pretty limitless.
ggrrrhhh, it is really bad practise to do this to someone, hope you can get it soon. Meanwhile have a fab weekend (if you can with that ulcer) and try not to worry about it too much
cheers
