I am getting referred to a lupus specialist. I am just not sure which is the best one. I have heard of Dr Hughes and Dr De cruz. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Martha

Hi Martha

Dr Hughes is in private practice these days at The London Lupus Centre. Several of the St Thomas' team also work at the TLLC in addition to NHS St Thomas' and there are several other eminent lupus doctors at TLLC. I think they all trained at St Thomas'

I would happily go to any of them with one exception about whom I have heard a few bad stories and I had an unpleasant personal encounter with, but on the other hand I have heard some good too, so my second hand impressions could be ill founded. Of course I can't say who it is here.

Dr D Cruz is my doctor at St Tom's and I couldn't ask for better or nicer. There are some others in London - some threads about them here. UCL I think has lupus specialists too

Cheers
Clare

Dear Clare,
We seem to have had very similar experiences. Like you I have had one for my Daughter, who I insisted on changing from but have nothing but good to say for Dr. Hughes and Dr. D'Cruz. Both have been very kind with me,and are well regarded. Dr. D'Cruz sees my 16 year old, and she is very satisfied. She had seen other Docs who seemed disbeleiving, he told her outright she has a problem and he believes her. That went a long way.
