Hi everyone,

I got blood tests results today through GP from Immunologist. I had IFA ( Intrinsic Factor Antibody blood tests). It is negative but it says.... A negative result does not exclude the diagnosis of pernicious anaemia. IFA has only been reported as occurring in up to 75% of pernicious anaemia patients. I asked GP what does it means.. he said not to worry.. it is only mild. I assume that I will have to wait for my next appt with Immunologist. Is anyone familiar with IFA??

Hi Carmela,

I moved your post to a thread of it's own so you'll get more replies:blush:

I'm sorry I don't know about the IFA test. Do you have a diagnosis of pernicious anaemia? Are you being investigated for anaemia of unknown cause?

I'm a little confused by what you wrote - the IFA was negative, but the GP said "it is only mild"- what is only mild?

How long until your appointment with the immunologist?

All the best
