Has anyone had kidney stones blasted to bits - and can you relate your experience? I'm now due to have that done next week as one of mine has grown to 1.2 or 1.3 cm and if it gets much bigger then surgery would be the only option. Surgery with a 5 day hospital stay!

Of course, having lupus... makes me a little extra protective of my kidneys. Right now, I only have blood in my urine, some "urgency" and some back pain which are my only symptoms. I hope this goes smoothly. Can't believe I'm heading back to the hospital again so soon. Maybe I'll get the same anesthesiologist. :P He was nice! *lol*

hey maia, are they blasting it with lasers or sonic wave pool? Any way they do it's not that bad really! i have had so many stones removed i could overflow a milk jug. only 1 lasered they learn not to that again! all the little pieces that should have passes out like sand in my urine didn't. they just made more stones (just my luck). the doc said he had never seen that happen before (my body can make any doc go Hmmmmmm) i'm sure all will go great for you my laser surgery was just a day stay.

Good Luck

Sonic waves. Glad to hear you report it wasn't a big deal - I've read a new study that came out last year that reports a much higher risk of diabetes in patients who've had the shock wave treatment (4 times higher) and a slightly higher risk of high blood pressure (50% higher).
