A warm welcome to the forum Samantha ! :)

I am sorry about your diagnosis though. The time after diagnosis is usually very difficult when you are coming to terms with the idea of having a chronic disease, wondering what the future might hold. It's usually tough dealing with family and friends too and it also takes time to find the right medicines and learn to live with the disease.

Lupus affects each of us slightly differently and we are on a variety of medicines depending on what we need and how they suit us.

The ones you are taking are called non- steroidal anti inflammatories, NSAIDS, mainly for pain relief. There are many medicines of this sort - some work better for certain people than others.
There are also a number of medicines that will help damp down the disease itself, "disease modifying", and hopefully stop existing symptoms worsening and spreading.

Please remember that the people who post here who are already diagnosed are those that have on going problems. Many people with lupus
live normal busy lives with their symptoms well under control and don't bother with forums.
Having lupus does complicate life of course and I hope we can help you deal with every aspect.

We have a number of younger members. There's a section for under 20's to get in touch with each other and discuss common interests of young people but you can post anywhere you like.

The information section on this site is good and we can explain anything you don't quite understand or need more information about. There's a lot of out of date and inaccurate information on line by the way including some unnecessarily scary stuff. There's also a huge amount of information most of which will not affect you.

When do you see your specialist doctors again ? Maybe they are still doing investigations and will soon be prescribing some lupus meds for you

Ask any questions you like ! We'll do all we can to help you through.

Bye for now !
Clare

Hi Samantha and welcome to this site :)

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis and sorry that you have to deal with this so young.
At least now that you have a diagnosis you know what you are dealing with and the docs can help you better.
As for meds, they can vary greatly. Lupus can be so different for different people and that means the meds can too.
You obviously have other complications (your heart etc.) wich mean that the meds must be adapted accordingly. Your docs know best.
Don't hesitate to ask your rheumatologist plenty of questions.
I hope you get some relief from the tiredness soon, it can be very debilitating.
