I hope you enjoy your trip to Florida. There are lots of neat places to see, especially if you enjoy nature.

Tip #1: bring the best sunscreen you can lay your hands on. We're called the Sunshine State for a reason. We're also in something of a drought, which means we're having even more sun than usual.

Tip#2: You can probably have any cuisine you'd like in the big cities. If you'd like something "Floridian", try some of the seafood dishes. I personally like grouper and dolphin (no, not the Flipper kind). Mahi mahi is also pretty good. You could be very adventurous and try alligator.

Tip#3: If you aren't used to high heat and high humidity in combination, you might want to take it easy for the first couple of days. I'm in northern Florida, and it was 35 degrees Celcius here yesterday. That is normal for this time of year. If you're visiting Orlando, it's even hotter because it is away from the ocean.

Excellent sunscreen is a must! If you are going to be in Clearwater Fla. I recomend "Frenchies on the Beach" restaurant, they have wonderful seared tuna. Try to plan indoor activities during the heat of the day, NASA at Cape Canaveral is really cool. There is a really neat mall in Clearwater that has an ice skating rink inside, as well as good food and shopping. Pineapple wine is also tasty:) Post Corner restaurant , across the street from the beach in Clearwater makes awesome brick oven pizzas and Greek salads. The beaches usually start to empty out in the early evening, so it is nice to go then. I hope you have a terrific time, I love Florida and hope you will too!:)

I just love Clearwater Beach and actually all the beaches right there are wonderful.

But yes, sunscreen and umbrella and a hat are a must.

:) I live in Florida, and when you come , I just want to say that I hope that you can say that you really enjoyed your trip. As for food, sweetand tangy bar-b-que baby back pork ribs are a must. Acording to where you are, one must see place is Bush Gardens in Tampa ,Fla. If you are not used to the sun, we are reaching 92 degrees today, so you will have a hard time to stay out of the sun, but, get the strongest sunscreen, apply it even under your clothes, if they are sheer or light, get a hat, do this for the whole family,
repeat the sunscreen often, and important> take rests breaks often, the sun can wear you down and you won't know it. I wish
I could be your chaperone, but I hope that you and your family have the best vacation of their lives.
P.S. Bring the camera and loads of film.:rotfl:  :hehe:

You are going to love it!!!!
I would add to your list bug repellant-they have huge mosquitos.
It is very beautiful and enjoyable.
If you go down to the Keys-they have some yummy key lime pie, conch fritters and clam chowder.

Have a great time. I wish I was going with you:worried:
Hugs,
Becca
