Well all,
I did the one time experience of the canoe trip. I enjoyed it very much.
The turn out is BAD. we were driving home in the car and i got totally sick. Threw up in a walmart bag, eyes swelled up,headache, shaking and chills.
Came home got in the shower threw up some more, eyes looked like bug eyes, swollen and blurred vision. Took advil threw that up , went to bed and hubby kept putting ice wash cloths on my head, my chest felt tight too.
Finally after sleeping away the pain, got up had some scrambled eggs and toat. Held it down took my meds went back to bed and here i am today.
Its very strange that the morning of the trip I woke up with my fingers in pain and the index finger was twice the size it normally was. I could not even bend it. I think i was flaring just before this trip. But i couldn't let my kids down so i did it. It was nice though but i guess it will be the last. I wore my sun block, hat uv shirt and took an umbrella along too.
I really should of gone to the hospital last night but was afraid they would keep me.
Today i am feeling queazy but holding food down,my eyes are still puffed but nothing like last night. They were almost closed. I am taking advil for the headaches today but i am tired. So what do you think of my one time get away? Florie ............

I think I am glad you got some enjoyment and got to make memories with your children that will last forever. I hate that you had to pay such a high price for it physically:( . Lupus is soooo unfair:mad:
I am glad to hear you are doing a little better today, and hope you continue to improve quickly. (((((((((hugs)))))))))

It is wonderful that you were able to take a family trip and enjoy your children and make some wonderful memories, right down to throwing up in a Walmart bag. It is unfortunate that you are now having a rough time of it now. Maybe the next family trip should be something that you could do without the worry of overdoing it. One thing that I do before something that I think might make me sick, is I take Phenergan and pain pills. I always try to premedicate, that way I am prepared.

I hope you get to feeling better soon. Just take it easy for the next couple of days.

That is just aweful to have that happen after the trip.

Now was it the motion of the canoe or was it the sun?

Here i am,still getting better. Slept this afternoon, had chills, took advil, one eye is bloodshot, and swollen under eyes.
I thought today would be wise to get my blood tests done and urine. wow, i counted 5 vials, and my urine looked dark. Wonder what the readings will be when i get back to the rhuemy.

I don't think it was motion sickness, the water was so calm and ankle deep. The day was sun mixed with clouds. Funny with all my sunblock, and uv shirt and hat i didn't get any sunburn . No bathing suite marks either when i went for dips and sat and collected sharks teeth. I was up early, and back to bed by 6:oo pm .

Oh, did i mention that we ran into a bush while i was seated up front? And how i fell backwards off my seat into the canoe and couldn't get up from the position i was in :rotfl: . So glad everyone was up ahead of us and didn't see me. I was telling hubby that ive fallen and can't get up! He was just sitting there laughing at the sight of me. My feet went up and i was still holding the oar up.  What an experience ! What fun! What a whacko I am :) ,
It was all worth it, Lupus thought it could really pay me back for my fun. But even not feeling well , the memories take over the sickness. And i would do it again...................
