Hi Everyone,
My husband has left to go fight fires..I am on my own for a couple of weeks.
I wanted to share a good movie, I saw with you. It is called ..
" The Painted Veil ". I love it! It is based on the book by Somerset Maugham. It was a really good love story and was about forgiveness and redemption. I like the actors that were casted in it too..
I bought several good books to read while husband is gone.
I bought a couple that were suggested good reads by those of you on this site. I have " My Sister's Keeper ". Nancy, I think you suggested that one to me..I have a few classics to read too.
I bought " Of Human Bondage ", also..Nineteen Minutes, by Jodi Picoult.
I will be busy while he is gone. I hope my energy levels stay good!
Oh! I plan to have a slumber party with my two young granddaughters..
Katelyn is 5 and Hannah is 3 so..that will be a lot of fun:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I will pop popcorn and scoop some ice cream for them, and pull out the bed in the front room sofa and we will play Candyland and watch Disney movies all night longs:lol:  ! Want to join us?
Tell me please ? What have you ladies and Gents been doing to have fun
Lately? :)
Be Well,
Love,
Sandy :)

We visit my daughter on weekends, we :swim: , have :coffee: , and just have :eat: dinner. We are very family oriented.
Keep busy.happy and healthy.

Well you did ask ...
I entered my daughters bedroom (never go in my children's rooms unless forced!!!) and scraped stuff off the wall whilst she went on a sleep over.
I found all her dirty laundry, bits of blue tack stuck to the carpet, sweet wrappers stuffed under her bed, 3 side plates with fungus growing on them, a furry mug, and got on my hands and knees to 'ball up her' her escaped hair (yes - spit on hand and make circular motion over carpet - niiiice ...) It seems to hug the carpet and won't be sucked up by the vac.
This resulted in my sons entering their rooms to make sure they did not have too many sticky things lying around in case I went in their rooms, which in turn resulted in my not having to.
Job done!
I look forward to grandchildren because I think they are far more likely to be nice for grandparents than for parents! If I were to tell my children grandma (either grandma) was coming to tidy their rooms they'd be mortified, but with me they just don't care!
I love them dearly, but I don't think I beat them enough. In fact I haven't done it yet ...
Any tips?
We're off to see The Simpsons The Movie and the new Harry Potter this week. One of the films will include a family meal out (my favourite - no cooking!!!) because the youngest is 10 at the end of the week. Nice, because with mixed ages it is unusual for us to go out as a family these days, and everybody has agreed we need to. Going to the Black Forest in Germany for our summer hol this year (only taken children abroad once so far) and cannot wait - please God let there be no rain.
Is anybody else totally hacked off by the weather or is it just me?
It's doing my head in ...
Thanks for tips on books, Sage Hen - I need some replacment reading material. For a beautifully written book might I recommend The Inheritance of Loss (Kiran Desai)?
it's out in paper back Penguin at £7.99 and was the winner of the Man Booker Prize 2006. The imagery is outstanding, and you get romance, history, AND wit along with story lines for several different characters living very different lives, all connected, in different parts of the world - India, the USA and London, England. It is easy to follow. It is filling my mind with pictures. I am two 3rds of the way through, and I often don't get past 2 chapters with books as a rule, unless really grabbed. This book drew me in slowly and I cannot leave it alone. A nice one to fill the night when there is no husband around to complain about the bedside lamp being on until 3 am!
Florie - 8 grandchildren sounds absolutely wonderful .... how often do you find you need to beat them?!!

Sandy,
I am glad that you are reading some Jodi Picoult, I happen to think she is wonderful!!! you will have to tell me what you think of 'Nineteen Minutes'. It is one that I haven't read yet.
Happy reading!!!

I can't wait to see "Hairspray" My DD is going to a water park all day tomorrow, so I have to wait until Sunday. If anyone has seen it-tell me how great is it?
I LOVE to read, and I read the mysteries and thrillers. I collect certain authors in hardbacks and have been collecting for a loooong time We have moved twice in 18 yrs and we will be moving here shortly and my DH moans and groans, because there are too many and they are too heavy:lol: . I am one who also will be up all night reading and I have a book light that I use so I don't disturb hubby(even though he could probably sleep through it) I am addicted to reading, buying and collecting books;)
Any DVD recommendations???
Becca:)
