We don't hear much on this important topic. The suggestion that men about to have Cytoxan therapy should consider sperm freezing could be useful.
All the best

yes, definitely an important study. In terms of achieving parenthood after cytoxan, men are in a much more fortunate state than women, as freezing sperm is very successful. Unfortunately a woman's eggs cannot be frozen - or more importantly, they don't survive thawing, which is the relevant bit. Fertilized eggs can be frozen and thawed successfully, which may be a possibility for women who have partners.
IV cytoxan put me into premature menopause (15 years early) - I was lucky that I had finished my family. But of course, not everyone who has iv cytoxan does end up infertile, it tends to be dose dependent (at least with women, which is the area I have read up on - women in their 30s have a higher chance of premature menopause, and those who have higher cumulative doses).
I think it is a wonderful thing that they are talking about proactively protecting someones chances of becoming a parent down the track

At the age of 15 it is rather worrying. :worried:
Its something I should really bring up with my rheumy but again, 15, slightly awkward.
He did say that if I wanted to start a family I would have to come off methotrexate.
I'll just have to become more mature :hehe: :wink2: and bring it up next time, my rhuemy is very friendly and we like to joke together, he was very quick with my lupus dx so I really respect him.
Take Care
