Hi there
I just wondered if any of you had children with hypermobility. I have SLE myself and my 21 month old daughter has Benign Joint Hypermobility Syndrome. She is starting to really suffer from joint pain and exhaustion, and is being seen by a physio: we are waiting to be referred to a specialist. She is a happy, bright little thing but it's really hard to balance activity and rest for her, especially as she is so active, and we end up having really long crying spells. I know that there is a link between hypermobility and lupus, and given my history I can't help wondering/worrying that she may have lupus too - obviously she is very small still (I wasn't correctly diagnosed until 21!) and it might not even appear until much later - with me it was 11.
Does anyone have any tips on coping with fatigue and pain in toddlers, and/or any experiences with a link between lupus and hypermobility? And when did you first know your child had lupus: what are the signs to look for in small children?
Thankyou - I am desperately trying to get all the information I can from those who really know about it, ie the parents!
