Hi Melody and Grerimar
Melody other natural foods/herbs that thin the blood are Garlic and Ginger and if you have Hughes Syndrome/APS it is better to not binge on them or on cranberries including the juice. I have Hughes Syndrome/APS and have been on Warfarin/Coumadin for 6 years and still have foods that I like but do not binge on any of them. I just have my warfarin dose adjusted to suit my diet which also included foods with Vitamin K in. Vitamin K is in a lot of foods but high concentrations will be found in foods like spinach, sprouts, kale, celery (if made into a soup), watercress etc. see the following link which explains how much Vitamin K is in certain food http://ebulfin.myby.co.uk/medical/INR/k.html#meat vitamin K reduces the effect on Warfarin which could make your INR drop below your therapeutic range.
Grerimar when I was having Chemo I was told to drink lots of water which also flushes the toxins out of the body.....you can be prone to bladder infection because the chemo can sit in the bladder and maybe that is why you have thought the cranberry juice will help as Cranberries contain hippuric acid, which has antibacterial effects on the body, as well as natural antibiotic ingredients. I sometimes have a small glass but don;'t drink it in any large quantity. I also had a medication called Mesna that they gave me before the chemo which helped with any potential bladder infection problems. http://www.cancerbackup.org.uk/Treat...ualdrugs/Mesna
Hope the information helps .
