Tom if you can't stay out of the sun you need to ware a hat, sunglasses the wrap around ones are best and factor 50 sunscreen. I can only stay a short time in the sun even after taking all these precautions. Pip

    Hello there Tom

There are a few men on the site even if they're quieter than us women There are also some of those who have discoid lupus.

Whether or not you would be able to get any kind of disability allowance would usually depend more on what it is that you can't do in life than on the disease itself. It's not disease based but based on what you can/can't do and your symptoms. I can't hep you more there as systems are different in every country.

    Hi Tom,

The review board may not feel you are unable to work just because you are unable to work outside. They might recommend you get an indoor construction job such as building cabinets or even go into another line of work. As Katharine said it really comes down to what you can and can't do.

You should read some of the older posts in our Social Security section to get an idea of what is needed and what others have gone through.
