Someone on this forum put forward a theory that seems to be favoured by the medical community (but is not proved). Chloroquine is powerful against Covid-19. I really hope that's true cos most of us are being protected by taking it (Plaquenil) when it's us that could be affected greatly by the virus. Thoughts?

An article I read said it looked promising in the petri dish. Trials would need to be done to know for sure. It would be wonderful for those of you on it if it worked.

My son and his Mum had what looked like Corona in the past couple of weeks. He lives with me and I'm fine. I hope the theory holds strong!

Hiya...they used it effectively in SARS but the chloroquine was of a different type..but essentially some of our meds have a variation of this chemical. They way it works is by blocking the virus from entering the cells, I think !! So it is expected to be helpful in any viral situation...they are currently testing it for Coronavirus effectiveness/defence.... let's hope as I also have lung issues already.

I think my daughter and grandchildren have had it.... they each came down with high temps and coughs one after the other...she lives with her husband who has MS and is still currently teaching (high risk situation) and I was in contact with my grandchildren around their sick would be helpful to be able to test to see if they have had it..people can then get back on with their lives etc and our industry be helped......they are supposed to be developing a testing kit that is accurate to detect those that have already had that is an unknown at present. We just have to keep on keeping on x

It does look promising. I think they were looking at 600 mg daily for five days along with Z Pac. Of course there is run on Plaquenil from what I hear. I did order early my 90 day supply so I should have enough Plaquenil to tide me over until this mess is over.

I hope everyone is well and stays well.

I called Humana today and asked about getting my prescription filled and was told they're only filling for 30 days at a time because they foresee a shortage, but the people who are already taking chloroquine will be filled first.

The day I heard Hydroxychloroquine was being used for Covid-19 I called my pharmacy and got a 3 month refill (Since I've been taking it for almost 18 years now). The pharmacist said he couldn't even order anymore so I felt pretty lucky. Dr. Oz today interviewed an infectious disease specialist who contracted Covid-19 and elected taking Hydroxychloroquine combined with a Z-pack. He wouldn't admit if the meds helped him get over the virus if it just ran its course but that studies are well under way. Dr. Oz asked about 8 Lupus patients who were taking Hydroxychloroquine and didn't get the virus at all, he couldn't confirm or deny this report.

I was curious if there are anyone taking Hydroxychloroquine that have contracted Covid-19?

The report I read showed the doctors giving a higher dosage than we would be prescribed. It will be interesting to see what the final results are.

I read that the current studies found that there are cases of COVID-19 in some people that are on plaquenil. So it’s not a sure bet and we should all remain vigilant despite taking plaquenil. Hope this finds you all feeling well and staying hopeful. I know it’s hard and taking one day at a time is the best we can do. Peace.

It seems to be working as a great placebo for me. I at least feel safe. (Probably not a good thing as I might relax my guard!)

I have about 6 weeks supply left. Is there truly a shortage in the US. Do I need to reorder early? I usually use Cigna.

Yes there is a shortage in the US. It would be smart to reorder early. I've heard of people only being able to get a partial refill at a time. Supposedly production has been ramped up so maybe you won't run into any outages.

    Take care,

No shortage in my US. I don’t see why people worry so much. You’ll be fine.
