I too have never heard of it...so I did some poking about on google. The following is strickly my OPINIONS and IMPRESSIONS of the data that I reviewed. I am not an expert and in thruth had not even heard of this regime until I saw this post.

This looks pretty strict, and there seem to be some serious risks with the amount and type of enemas required in order to adhere to the regime. It seems that frequent enemas of any kind can cause problems with the colon, coffee is especially acidic in enemas. There have been at least 2 reported deatchs as a result of these enemas.

Since I have been diagnosed, my rhumy has been VERY emphatic about avoiding immune boosting therapies, and that, it appears is the major function of this regime. He wont even allow Noni Juice or Vitamin C supplements, since they are struggling just to keep my immune system in balance.

The idea of the regime, as I understand it, is that this is used mostly as a holistic and alternative treatment for cancer (the Cancer Foundation has reviewed the data and cannot state any benefit having been documented), boosting the immune system strenghtens the body and may be productive in allowing the bodies natural defenses to combat the cancer cells.

This regime does not have the approval of the FDA for treating anything, there are not clinical studies or emphiricle data that this has helped cure any diseases. Although a healthy well balanced diet with a variety of fresh fruits an vegetables is essential in combatting any disease.

If it were me, I would discuss this with my Rhumy before committing to the entire regime, although parts of this are very healthy recommendations.

    Hope this helps - Stephanie

    Subject: Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)

JULIE KLINDWORTH, SYSTEMIC LUPUS ERYTHEMATOSUS (SLE).
Late 1979, all joints swollen, no relief by drugs, couldn't push phone buttons, could hardly swallow. Worse after ten days in hospital. Mayo Clinic, diagnosed SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus). Said they couldn't help. Warned against "quack diet". Began Gerson Therapy at home January, 1980. improved from first day. Drove car, cared for home in three months. Doctor said "complete clinical remission." Alive and well 12 years later, lost to follow-up since.

mkbeachy - if you are going to quote texts then please also quote the source. If you are here for support, I don't see how quoting in such a way, with no background info, is going to help you - it is also against forum guidelines.

I just had a question. I Am sorry I broke your "rules" . I hope that maybe you all will be able to open your minds enough to answer questions without being judgemental of silly things.

    MK:

I am sorry if my respone appeared judgemental, it wasn't intended that way at all. I can oly use the tools available to me (the internet) and my own skills at interpreting what I read.

If you only wanted blind support of your idea, then you should not have asked for input, you should have asked for support with your decision.

For myself, i always read all I can about a topic, both good and bad, look for clinical and proven facts about this, ask for unbiased opinions, talk with my doctors, and then make "MY" best educated guess if this would be right for me.

I wish you luck with your course of action, however I do still caution that you discuss the implication of the regime on your disease and body with your doctor.

Again, I am sorry If my response offended you it was never my intent.

    mkbleachy,

It seems so far no one really knows about this Gerson Therapy on this site, perhaps you could explain what it is....would be nice to know more!

All alternative therapies should be discussed with your main specialist dealing with Lupus...best advice I can give is get their advice before embarking on a change that could in reality be detrimental to your condition if you have Lupus/SLE or anything similar.

You will find that most members stick to the more traditional health care options available, with a small percentage dabling with alternative options.....although many members registered on this site not everyone checks in on a regular basis - this may also be why no one with first hand knowledge of Gesron Therpay has responded. Or another reason is that no-one uses the Therapy.

    Hello,

There is a reason for rules and we ask that all members read and go by the guidelines.

When quoting from another source you need to add the link that you got it from. It is copy right laws.
