    Hi and welcome to the site. Firstly I suggest that you get your shoulder pain checked out asap. With your history, you should not ignore your symptoms. Let us know how you get on.

    Secondly, lupus isn't triggered by infections as such. You can have a genetic predisposition to lupus and then an environmental trigger can start the disease process. Lupus can be triggered by many things such as hormonal changes, stress etc such as many chronic illnesses. Lupus is not a hereditary illness.
