Hi, can I be a pain and ask someone to help me in making some sense of these results please... especially the Protein in Urine levels. The 24 hour urine total protein seems very high!

24 Hour Urine Volume: 1432ml

Urine Creatine: 8.3 mmol/1

24 Hour Urine Creatine: 11.9 mmol/24hr

Creatine Clearance: 98 ml/min

Urine Total Protein: 0.15 g/l

24 Hour Urine Total Protein: 0.21 g/24hr

Thanks

Creatinine clearance measures how well your kidneys are filtering and 98 ml/L is a normal number. Now for the protein. The kidneys usually spill up to 150 mg of protein a day which is normal. So .15g is normal. I'm not sure what the difference is between the total protein and 24 hour. 0.21 g for 24 hours is slightly high. Usually you are not considered to have nephrotic syndrome (where the kidneys are losing a lot of protein) until they measure more than 1 gram of protein in 24 hours. So you are a ways from that. Ask your doctor if this is anything to worry about.

I think you have a lot to worry about anyway  but they don't sound all that out from what I know, bearing in mind that I am not a doctor! Your GP is the best person to comment initially on lab test results.

Results can be influenced by infections. Or exercise, not that this is likely to be your case. I hope you can get to see a lupus specialist soonest. Lots of
Luck
