Hi everyone my pregnancy is going great I just had a question. I was tested for my clotting factor and clotting factor 7 was high 234 and 60-150 is normal What does this mean I am talking to my doctor about I just wanted to know if any one has any experience with this issue

Speaking from someone who has high blood pressure and history of pre Ecclempsia in pregnancy and have been a high stroke risk in past, I would say that your dr will probably want to give you something to thin your blood like Walfrin. Although because child birth there is risk of hemridge they may give you asprin instead. Is your blood pressure high? Best to talk to your doctor. Please dont worry if there is a problem you are far enough along to have a perfectly healthy baby even if its a little early. I wish you and your beautful little girl all the best

I'm not familiar with clotting factor 7, or it's implications. If it ends up placing you at a higher risk of clots, then you may be placed on heparin (not aspirin or warfarin/coumadin while pregnant and so late in your pregnancy). Or you may be encouraged to deliver earlier under controlled conditions.

You may continue to take some anticlotting medication after delivery too since risk of clotting is higher for all post-partum women (especially if you end up having a surgical delivery).
