Both of my grandmothers have/had lupus.

I have been anemic for years, with iron infusions, never found out WHY I was anemic. I have gone through spurts of severly low WBC counts. For a few years.. at certain times, if my hand was in a fist and I wanted to open it up completely my fingers would get "stuck" like they were cramped, for a few seconds, then was fine. I have always had headaches.

Yesterday I woke up with a FULL body rash neck to the tops of my feet. Some areas are bright red, some not bright. It's not raised and not itchy. I woke up this morning and have it on my face, on my left cheek, and slightly on right. Also on the top of my nose.

I went to the doctor yesterday and he said he didn't know what it was. Put me on 10 days of Prednisone and I pick that up today. He said if it's viral, it will be gone in 24-48 hours. It burns at times (the rash) and is very hot to the touch. He said if it's not gone in 48 hours that he will do blood work for lupus.

I am 25 BTW.

Thanks for reading my long long loooong post.
God Bless.
Eileen

OOOH and also I have a swollen lymph node on my face next to my ear, that was there before the rash appeared. Also today started with my bones/muscles/joints hurting. Not sure how to explain it, but my ankles hurt and my lower back, like very lower back, and its a weird hurt.. hard to explain..

Hello.
It sounds like you have not been diagnosed yet. I'll presume not and that you are new to the arena of Lupus.
When I started reading your note your skin problem sounded just like mine over my head. I presumed it was the lupus until my lupus specialist looked and pronounced it as excema and not lupus. She said a dermatologist can clear it up quickly with creams.

However, your other new symptoms do sound like common lupus ones. I started suddenly one day with painful shoulders and heels and it soon progressed to other joints and then muscles.
You need to get seen to by a doctor as soon as you can. Mine came very suddenly and affected many areas, leading to a hospital stay.
I'm not wanting to scare you, but you should get checked out to rule out anything. It may not be lupus, so don't jump to conclusions.

Good luck and let us know what gets found out.

Hi,
Do you see a dermatologist? If not could your GP refer you to one? Especially since he said he didn't know what it was.
Take pictures of your rash, that way your doctor can see what it looked like.
My rhumey keeps my pictures of my rashes when I take them.
Do you see a rhumey? He would be another good one to call.

Take care,
Lyn

Lupus is tricky to diagnose and can be frustrating while they are trying to figure things out. Even though you have a family history of autoimmune disease, it doesn't necessarily mean you are doomed to it and that is why your doc wants to take a couple of days to see. I am glad though that you are getting things checked out right away! I hope that this is just a virus or such and you're feeling much better soon! I totally agree that you should write down all of your symptoms and take pictures. It makes a big difference when you can explain accurately (instead of generally) and you hav pics.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Amy
