People with Lupus and related conditions need to be extremely careful when using plant medicines.

Free registration is required to read Medscape articles

This article gives an excellent account of many of the problems associated with the use of plants

Clare,

I come across this article the other day and had bookmarked it.

http://www.hss.edu/Conditions/Arthritis/Ev...ative-Therapies

This one is interesting a scientist had written in his book on herbal therapy that he found no cases where echinacea caused a worsening of his disease. In the article he is having to eat his words when he met 3 different women who did have a worsening of their disease after consuming echinacea

Take care,

Thanks Karen - it's very useful and has good links.
The echinacea story sure has a lesson in it.

Cheers

Thanks, for your common sense approach to using herbal therapies.

Hello DeAnna,

The links were put in in 2005. I should think that the pages have moved or even the articles been removed from their original place.

I doubt that anyone "kept" the articles but I could be wrong there. Generally, after a while it is better to look up new references on the subject as things can change significantly in 4 years.
