ANA of 1:640

I recently went to the doctor with severe headache, rash, joint pain, low grade fever, and fatigue. When the bloodwork came back my ANA was 1:640. I know it's possible for it to be a false positive for Lupus since it is just a screener, but I am curious if it is likely at a titer that high. The doctor has since ordered more bloodwork but it will be three weeks until it all comes back and I am anxious. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I am a 29 year old female. Thank you so much in advance!

I am not diagnosed yet either. My ANA just came back at 1:320. As far as I know it is very rare for a false positive. I would think that with an ANA of 1:640 there is definitely something going on. Did they say what the pattern was? Mine is speckled which indicates lupus, mixed connective tissue disease, scleroderma or Sjogrens Syndrome. I have the butterfly rash on my face so I am thinking it is definitely lupus. I hope you feel better soon and get those results back quickly!
With a level like that it just means that it is very likely that something is going on, but it doesn't really make lupus more likely than anything else.

I have read that the highest ANA's of all tend to be associated with Sjogrens Syndrome rather than lupus.

Sounds like you need some additional testing to see what is going on

That level of titre, combined with your symptoms, makes it unlikely to be a false positive. It is very likely that something autoimmune is going on. Especially the longer your symptoms have been there and continue to stay there... then it is even more likely to be due to some sort of autoimmune process.
Thank You

Thanks to everyone for your responses. They have been very helpful. Hopefully I'll know more soon.
