Quick question please;

Are us Lupus patients safe with taking antihistamines?

I've been prescribed some by my Dermatologist to bring down my "eczema" flare. But I think I read somewhere that antihistamines may be unsafe to take.

Can someone please confirm?

Thanks

Surferboy,

I take antihistamine for photosensitive sunrashes and swelling!

I think you will find many with SLE take antihistamine if needed, unless of course they are allergic to it!

Yep, I'd say a lot of us take anti-histamines from time to time and none of my docs has ever said a word about prescribing them.

Hi, Yes I am completely dependant on my antihistamines, and have taken them contuniously for more than 4 years now. No problems or side effects, but definately more skin and sanity than if I didn't have them:lol::lol: - OK, not much more sanity:wink2:

Antihistamines

I was told to stop the antihistamines when I was diagnosed with Sjogren's syndrome....makes sense not to dry myself out more than the disease already is. So be careful if you have Lupus with Secondary Sjogren's.

I was given an antihistamine spray for my lupus pimples to decrease swelling.

Also was given Astelin, an antihistamine nasal spray for allergies.. it works very well.

I was told a long time ago my a doctor to keep antihistamine in the house. It works well for me.
