I was diagnosed with lupus about a month ago and am not yet on any meds for it.

I have been feeling wobbly and dizzy lately (which i have experienced for the last few years) but it comes and goes to varying degrees. The last week i have felt more dizzy and feeling like im going to faint. This morning i had a whoosh feeling come over me and after it happend i realised i didn't remember a few seconds of what happened after. It was very odd.

I didn't fall or complettley black out for any length of time. Has anyone else ever experienced anything similar?? It was very frightening and i have spent all day feeling on edge about it.

When i woke this morning i didn't feel right, pains little worse than of late, funny head like i was going to have a headache or migraine.

Hi Jane,

I would say there are many reason for this to happen.

I would definately get a GP appointment for a check-up, expecially as you are suffering from extrememly high BP at the moment.

Take care,

I don't know what your problem is, but from my own experience I find I need to move slowly and change position carefully or else I feel like the floor is coming up to meet me. My Husband says I often walk like I am on a ship! I do have some seizures, so I would advise you that when you have a funny turn if anyone is with you, you ask them if they have noticed anything. Your own recollections may need supplementing by what someone with you sees. I cannot remember what I do sometimes. I am not joking!

Cattibby - get checked out just in case especially if you are worried about it.

I had a similiar experience last year i felt like i was going to pass out but didnt actually fall - when i became aware of myself again i realised i couldn't remember how i had got to where i was in my house. My episode was for very different reasons so i would get checked if it happened now.

* Big hugs* Hope you get to the bottom of it

Hi.....

Felt extactly the same back in March before i started my first lot of medication. (at first i put it down to the anixiety being told i have lupus)

They got better slowly, but i still have the off strange moment and dizzy headaches in the morningI wondered if it was the type of sleep i'd had, sounds odd i know but i'm normally up 3-4 times in the night i sleep real heavy until 2ish from about 10, after that its cat napping.. But if i sleep right through the next morning its dizzy fainty and headaches..

I would also book to see a doctor just to be 100% sure and put your mind to rest.

Take care.

Hi there,

Sorry you are suffering from this dizziness and faint feeling. Have they started you on any blood pressure meds yet after monitoring you? Have you been able to start your lupus meds yet?

All this pain you have been in is enough to upset anyone's system. Severe pain can also raise blood pressure as I'm sure you know, so it's important to get some meds sorted asap.

I think I'd be back off to the GP to have a few simple tests done again, like BP and a complete blood count for starters.

Hope you feel better soon

anyone else, more news

Thank you for your replies.

I am still suffering with the odd feelings, mini black outs and received a letter from my doc this morning regarding blood tests i had done a week or so ago.

The tests were for thyroid, full blood count, electros and sugar level and apparently the levels have all come back not good and my doc wants to retest them. I have tried to make an appoitnment with my GP but am unable to as they haven't got any free for 2 weeks. They suggested i ring tomorrow morning when they release urgent ones. Just hope i manage to get one as now im feeling even more scared.

Hi Jane,

Well at least they will realise now that you definitely have a lot going on and need some action. I hope you are able to get that emergency appt. and get more bloods done so they can sort this out for you. Let us know how you get along.

anyione else part 3

Well i got to see my doc and the blood tests actually came back with no levels etc as he presummed the nurse that took them didnt label them properly!

My lood pressure was higher than ever even though im now on meds, he is going to try the meds at a higher level. He also listened to my heart and said something funny going on with it as making a strange whooshing sound, so he is refering me for a heart scan.

Just seems to go on and on. Bloods being redun next week, just hope this time they aRE TAKEN AND LABELED CORRECTLY.

Dear Jane,

Are you able to get in touch with the consultant who diagnosed you? I would let the consultant know about your dizziness and 'absences'. I have Hughes syndrome/APS (today I was told I have Lupus as well). I experienced the same dizziness and little bits of missing time. For me these are symptoms of APS and should be checked out by the consultant - especially if your blood pressure is high. Do you know much about APS? About 15-30% of lupus patients have antiphospholipid antibodies

My GP has been very good at getting my BP down - I take Enalopril now and it works like a wonder drug on me.
Take care
Best wishes

for you

I get that all of the time. When I stand up or just stand still. I have a really low blood pressure and it bottoms out a lot. I get tired or stressed or I hurt really bad it happens more. Sometime it happens for no reason. I can be walking and feel like I am on an elevator. It could mean your bp is too high or too low or you are dehydrated. Sometimes, if you drink a lot of caffeine, when it leaves your system, your bp can drop and make you feel funny (that is my issue. I drink at least a pot of coffee a day. Sometimes up to 3 pots to stay awake). Hope you feel better. It is a yucky feeling, I know

Hi Cattibby,
Have you told your doctor about this? If not and it is bothering you, you call your doctor's office and ask to speak with a nurse. Tell her what is going on and that it is getting worse. I only say this because they are your direct link to the doctor and often the doctor will tell the nurse get her in tomorrow. You by pass the long waiting list for an appointment. It is also good advice to get the reaction of anyone aroung you, they may notice something that you don't.
I have dizzy spells myself and no one is sure why if it is the lupus related, migraine related, or something new going on. I have learned when it starts to happen to find a place to lay down for a few minutes, sometimes it helps. I have been trying to keep a journal to see for myself if there is a common thing when it happens.
I hope things get better for you and that yiou find out what is going on.

Thank you all for your replies, im still suffering the dizziness and have mentioned it to my doctor. He said as i have a history of it and havd tests years ago it may be vestibular although he also mentioned that i have sticky blood, APS????

I have a few good days and a few more bad which interferes with my sleep. Im sooooo tired but just cant sleep as the diz is keeping me awake.
I have a rhumie appointment in a few weeks so i will mention it to her and see if she thinks it is sle/aps related.
