Hi everyone. Just wondering if a Lupus thing possibly or if anyone had anything similar. The picture does not do justice of the color. They are bright red. They do not itch. Would not know they were there. One of them yesterday I could feel if I put my finger over it, all the others were flat. But today I can feel all of them but don't see anything in them. They do not look like bites and don't itch. It is not the flat appearing purpura. I have eight of them on my lower leg. I can only say what distinguishes this is the bright color red. Almost reminded me of the appearance of chicken pox my kids had so many years back. But I know it is not that as they don't itch and I haven't gotten any more today. Just very red circular. Any ideas?

Hi Paula,

It's always difficult to tell from pics but are they similar to purpura but smaller? If so they might be ecchymosis which I get. It's just basically the same, bleeding into the skin from a tiny ruptured blood vessel, smaller than purpura, larger than petechiae. I get them on my hands a lot after sun exposure if I forget to put sunscreen on. They fade and turn a browny colour before disappearing.

I am sorry but I have never gotten anything like this. Mine are 2 different kinds. 1 is a blister like rash with clear fluid in it and the other is a pimple looking thing that has white stuff in it. Mine itch so bad it is not funny and when you itch it, it hurts !!! I have a tropical cream that does help but you have to put it on 3 times a day and shower before putting it on each time. I am the cleanest person on my block when I have to use it lol.

Hi Hellos, My Rash Starts Out Looking Like Yours. Just Small Circular Raised Bumps. Like You Said Dont Even Know They Are There Except For Looking At Them. After A Few Monthts They Get Bigger And Some Of Them Have Changed Shape. Also Some Have Flakey Skin On Them As They Grow. I'm Not Saying This Is The Same Thing , Just Sharing What Mine Are Like. I Have A Topical Cream But Does Not Work. Now I Am Covered From Head To Toe And A Couple On My Face. Thank God Those Are Still Small And Not So Noticanle. Was Wondering What Your Dr Thinks. I Have Had 2 Biopsies . 1 Came Back Inconclusive And The Other Some Form Of Exzema. But From What Ive Heard Exzema Drives You Crazy With Itching. I Feel Nothing. I Also Have Been Told Mine Are From Discoid Lupus. I Do Hope You Find Some Answers Soon. Take Care , Gsd77

My sister (sjrogens) get them and so does my friend who has lupus gets them.... I used to get them all of the time but it stopped. not sure what it is.

Mine start out like yours...red smooth and about the size of a pencil eraser. Then they get raised...then they start to grow! The cneter become white and scaley and the outer edge stays red and round. They range in size from about 1/4 inch across to 2 or three inches across.

I have one now in the small of my throat that is currently 1 3/4 inches across. They don't itch, but are warm to the touch and not smooth at all.

Mine only seem to appear from the shoulders up and only in sun expoased areas. I have had every single on biopsied...they all come back SCLE.

Perhaps you should take yourself off to the dermy for a quick check...chances are they will no PDQ or biopsy for DX.

can you believe I woke up with them this morning... haven't seen these appear on my legs in a couple of years... WOW!!!! The summer months really do take a toll on our bodies... well at least mine!

Paula, I have gotten the very same thing except very few "dots" here and there. I never attributed it to the sun until I went to Trinidad and the sun was so strong that I got several of them all over. No sickness or fatigue, no itching, just these dots. I haven't gotten them since I've been on meds and I don't have any other sun issues either now, but I did have the exact same thing as you, so I'm thinking it might be related to the lupus.

Very interesting. They sound similar but a little different. I guess that is why they say Lupus there is no two cases alike.

I am not even sure if my relates to Lupus or not, I just figure it does since my hubby looks at it and says "not normal " !

Stephanie - the first one of your pics almost reminded me of Lyme disease rash. I am sure you have had the doctor look at the rash and tell you what it was right? It just has almost that bullseye look to it.

Oopss I just reread your post and you said you had biopsied, so definitely not lyme !

this looks very similar to a rash that i had for years. It came and went until i was diagnosed with sjogrens/lupus. I was told by a specialist that it was hypergammaglobinaeamia (sorry might be spelt wrongly) a form of vascullitis that wont show up on an anca test. mine was like yours but sometimes big circles other times not so big. Depending on the severity of the attack i had more sometimes than others. I dont know if yours is the same type but i thought i would share my experience. Since taking plaq i have not had an attack for a year and i have been told it should control it. If it does flare up again, i believe they treat it with a short burst of steriods to keep it under control. I found walking alot, alcohol (rarely when i over indulged) were triggers.
