Hey all Happy Holidays!!
I went to the doctor the other day because I was having pain in my calf for weeks and it felt like pulsing in my veins I was concerned about a clot and so was doctor so she made me go in. She checked my legs and felt she didn't think it was a clot but a varicose vein Ok got it, but then she looked at my knees and felt some cracking or whatever and felt that I might have osteo in my knee makes sense it hurts, but she said I have bakers cyst behind both knees and that we need to watch it, I know it always felt thick behind my knees but I didn't know about this, it bothers me from time to time but compared to other pains not so much.
Anyway does anyone else have this and has your doctor made any suggestions regarding treatment etc.
Thanks and hope everyone is doing good!!

Hi Laura

I personally haven't had this problem but my father in Law did a couple of years ago. He also had PMR, polymyalgia Rheumatica. His calf started to swell and it was pretty uncomfortable. His doctor sent him for ultrasound and it turned out he had bakers cysts not a clot. If I remember rightly he was told they would resolve themselves, but I am not 100% sure, maybe some one could clarify that, if you are not certain maybe you should check with your doctor.

Hope that helps

Baker's Cyst

I had a Baker's Cyst many years ago. It was painful and aggravating, but it did finally just resolve on its own.

Your doc probably just wants to keep an eye on it to be sure it doesn't grow larger, but from what I learned then - there's not much they can actually DO for it. My doc suggested that if it became completely disabling (I had a lot of trouble walking) that we could try and drain the fluid, but it was likely it would just come back.

Luckily, it did go away after a while and I've not (knock wood) had a re-occurance.

Hi,
Ive had a Bakers cyst for years and years. It swells up larger sometimes but really it hasnt caused me much trouble over the years. Dont think they really do any treatment for it unless it really causes trouble.
Its not very attractive but as I have quite a few veins too I never show my legs anyway so I just live with it.
Ive had a DVT and phlebitis now and again too.
Hope yours turns out not to be too troublesome.
