Hi everyone, I'm new here. Am in a very bad flare. At my worst as I am now I can't use my legs. My left knee joint goes and gradually gets worse, then the right and gradually I loose the use of both legs as the joints just won't work. I spent 18months shuffling on sticks in 2001-2. I can't feel my feet as I type and the pain is terrible. of course the elbows have gone now and the pain is everywhere,. In every joint it seems but i think that might just be me. I am so light headed and just slept after work for 3 hrs. The burning is terrible

Does anyone know will the antimalarials help with this?

Hi Pollianna,

I am sorry to hear you are so unwell at the moment. Hopefully your blood tests will reveal exactly what is going on and you can begin treatment. If your diagnosis is Lupus antimalarials would be helpful.

Are you not able to use your legs due to pain and swelling or are they collapsing out from under you? Since you can't feel your feet and you are experiencing burning it sounds like you have neuropathy. Have any doctors done an EMG or a nerve conduction study to find the cause of this?

Leg and arm weakness are my biggest challenge. The only way to lessen the problem for me is to get the Lupus under control. Even then I have residual effects and need an aid.

Good luck with your appointment.

Take care,
Lazylegs

Hi lazylegs, they never swell but do feel swollen and yes they feel as tho they are going to give way. I feel the burning and the excruciating joint pain is the worst problem. if i dared tackly a stair the knees wouldn't want to do it. I will look into neuropathy.

Got my appointment on 26th feb, get my antimalarials then he's promised.....can't wait.

I'm sorry you have this too
