Hi All
I wonder if anyone else with Lupus suffers from back ache? I have been dx for about 3 years, and get back ache every so often. This last week or so, I have had lower back pain, and "bruising" at the back in my hip area(?),and today it is quite painfull around the waist area of my back and below, making it painful for me to bend, get up from a chair, etc. I have taken ibuprofen, and rubbed deep heat into the area, but am still feeling pretty bad. Any ideas? Or suggestions. Hugs to all :wink2:

Yes. I also suffer from back pain. Not as often as other pains though. Mine is usually only on one side, just below my shoulder blades and is accompanied with spasms that occur ever few minutes. The whole episode does not usually last more than a day, sometimes only a few hours. I have not found anything pain med wise that helps. Heat pads don't help either. Only thing I can do when this happens is lay down and rest, work on stretching exercises every hour or so, and wait for it to go away.

Hi Marybeth,

Since you have bruising it doesn't sound like the back pain would be related to Lupus. Continue what you are presently doing to help the pain. A warm bath or shower might help also. When lying down try a pillow in between or beneath your knees.

If the pain is still intense on Monday call the doctor.

Take care,
Lazylegs
