I started MTX last Friday, woke up on Saturday with a horrible cough and it has progressed to a horrible cold. I'm due to take my next dose of MTX on Friday and am just wondering how sick do I need to be before I call the doctor? Does that make sense? The cold seems to be getting better but not the cough.

It may be worth checking with your Consultant or GP as to whether to take the next dose. Coughs can linger on MTX so if you feel it is not improving please get it checked out.

From what I have learned when sick while taking methotrexate. I was told to get to the doctor and get checked out. You should go on the cautious side when on metho. I was put on antibiotics and was told not to take methotrexate while on antibiotics and not to take it until I feel better.

That is what I learned when I got a horrible cold. I put a call into my rhuemy and that is what his nurse told me.
