Just got out of hospital, had to be admitted for one night. Had heart palpitations and crazy racing heartbeat for a few days on and off. Decided to call gp when it went on for 3 hours yesterday and he sent me to A&E(GOOD CALL!!!) I didn't want to go because I thought it was silly...but turns out I have pleurisy and a pleural effusion(small one)!! I didnt even start getting any chest pain until I was in the hospital! Show's that us with SLE need to take every symptoms seriously as it could be pointing towards something else. Lucky for me my rheumatologist was on call and made me priority. what a sweety! Am home now with loads more steroids and strict instructions to rest. Got another 24 hour ECG and an ultrasound of my heart to have now..they said I was on the emergency list. FUN!

However on a more positive note my Rheumy said this would definately get me brownie points with the PCT for Rituximab and he really feels i should be on it now.

Hope everyone else is ok much love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Michele,

It is definitely a good thing you contacted your gp. I hope the steroids help you start to feel better soon. Good luck with your upcoming tests. Let us know how they turn out.

Take care,

Michele,
I am so sorry to hear that you had to spend the night in the hospital. It was a good thing that you did go to the hospital for treatment. Sorry you have something else to deal with now but that seems to be lupus it is just the start of all the problems lol. I do hope you start to feel better soon.

Hey Mooks,

Sorry to hear about the pleuritis and the hospital trip.... :( It must have all been very worrying for you and the three hour palpitations sound exhausting!!

I hope the extra steroids help with the pleuritis and that everything goes ok with the rituxan applications! :)

Hope you feel better very very soon :grouphug2:

Hey Mooks,

Well that just stinks that you had to go spend the night in the hospital but your right, we have to take symptoms seriously. I think women in general tend to put things off due to thinking that it just sounds silly.

I am glad you went and got treated and are hopefully on the road to recovery. Let us know how you get along in the next couple of days.

Hugs to you from across the pond!:wink2:

Hi Michele and hugs

You really have been going through it these last few months :(

I hope you'll be OK now and no more scares but you're quite right, we do need to be careful and not just think "oh, it'll go away"... so long as we don't take it to the other extreme of course :hehe:

I hope that you do get approved for the Rituximab and that it helps you, it certainly is time you found some stability in your disease activity.

hugs,
Katharine

Hope the steroids help, and that you do feel better soon, I do hope that it will add weight to the argument for rituximab, from what I remember about the process with the PCT, it is about the weight of reasons you should be on it, and having tried all the other avaialable treatments. Your rheumalologist sounds great, I will keep fingers crossed that you get the approval for it soon, I remember how frustrating waiting around for the PCT to say yes is. Do rest much and take good care, hope the tests you need to have go ok. Best wishes xxx

Hi Mooks,

Something similar happened to me in Dec '08- didnt want to go to hospital but was so glad that i did as they found out i had border-line high blood pressure.

Better that you got it checked out and now are on the road to recovery

Oh, you really are having a run of things lately  It's no fun when things land us in hospital and more than a bit scary when we realise that what we were putting up with did deserve prompt medical treatment. I hope this latest episode settles down soon and yes in a roundabout way it will add weight to the argument for Rituxan :luck:

love
