Hiya. I have over the past few months noticed I have a hard, bony like nodule/lump bottom of little finger in the knuckle joint .. but palm side. It is tender when pressed quite hard and seems quite fixed. I will mention to my rheumy when I see him in May but wondered if anyone out there has similar? Please enlighten me!!:) I had hand x rays done last August and all was normal and only noticed this since Christmas.. have been on steroids and plaq since Dec... any ideas?

Hi Claire

I have one on my palm and my rheumy said it was a soft tissue swelling that causes a contracture which is common in ra which it appears that I have as well as lupus. I Would definitely mention it to your rheumy. Mine has only appeared recently as well.

Thanks

Thanks Elisabeth and Deb, No it isn't moveable, feels more like a bone spur or a hard encapsulated something!! My rheumatoid factor was ok and so don't think I have RA as well but you never know, I am not sure whether this is common in MCTD, it could be I guess. I am not particularly worried as it isn't getting bigger, just aware it is there and others can feel it. I will mention it amongst other things next rheumy visit... thanks alot, appreciated.:)

claire,
Have your gp check for a syst as what you are describing sounds very much like the same thing. It appears the cure for these have not changed in hundreds of years wait till you hear it. You hold a big heavy book up high and drop it on it lol, yes you heard me right. Well it is just a thought and I would ask the gp about it. Let me know how things go as I am very interested in finding out if your is the same thing. I do hope you are well and doing well.

Hi Claire,
Before doing any home remedies please call or go see your doctor, to get his professional opinion on it.

It sounds like it is a new symptom to you. All new symptoms should be checked out.

Take care and I hope you get it sorted out.
Love,
Lyn

Hi Claire, about 4 years ago, I asked my Rhumy about small lumps in the palm of my hand and lower fingers. He dx. it as Dupuytren's contracture, named after a French surgeon. I am very fortunate that my fingers have not bent back. My last visit I told him my palms are very painful, only when I am sleeping, and the pain wakes me up. He fitted me with a hand brace to wear at night( sort of looks like the brace I wore when I was able to still go bowling.) You might ask your doctor about this during your next visit.
Good Luck, Rosie

hi just a thought could they be nodules! i have had a few and they felt like extra bone was growing. after injections of corticle steroid they seem to go away! and yes it could be related to RA.

was told harmless but sometimes uncomfortable!
