Hi Mindy....the butterfly rash stays as long as you are flaring and when you are not......well in my case.....it has turned from a 'Lupus rash' to a 'Lupus blush'.
I was wondering because I looked in the mirror and my face was blushed. No rash not that bright but I was concerned. It didnt last long and I'm not in a flare.
There are no hard and fast rules I'm afraid. Just like everything else with Lupus it varies :hehe: Generally if untreated by medications it hangs around and is quite noticeable, worsening with sun exposure. Sometimes it's very very red and other times it can be a faint blush. The main distinguishing feature is that it spares the nasal folds of the face unlike a lot of other rashes.
