Has anyone been on this? I currently take Plaquenil, Toprol (autonomic dysfunction), prevacid (tummy issues), Rozarem (sleep), Xanax (Neuropsych), Lexapro (neuorpsych), Lamictal (Neuropsych), Calcium (osteopenia), Mobic (inflammation), and recently just added cholchicine...along with Vicodin until cholchicine kicks in. Along with this, I also have splints on 4 of my 10 fingers since they are hyperextending at the middle knuckle. I've had a lot of pain due to pleurisy and pericarditis for months. We've tried a multidue of meds including prednison but only high doses helped it so that is why they are trying the cholchisine. I've never heard of this for lupus and was wondering if anyone else has been on it. I am only 32 and borderline osteoporotic so they don't want me on corticosteroids, especially high doses for too long.

Any thoughts.

This medication has been used historically for gout but research has found it to be a very useful anti-inflammatory for a variety of other diseases including autoimmune diseases. Your rheumy sounds very up-to-date to be trying this medication. Here is a link to an article about it and can be helpful to explain why it may be effective. It is uncommonly prescribed at this point - so it will be interesting to see if anyone else takes it for lupus pain/inflammation/treatment.

Thanks for the great information. Unfortunately, I'm still in a lot of pain so the doc increased the dose and I need to call him in a few days. I will say that the chest pain seems better so maybe it is helping my pleurisy and pericarditis but not the joint pain. I'm just super fatigued but don't think that is part of the meds. My doc is very involved in clinical trials and is pretty up to date which I love. I asked if I could participate in a clinical trial but don't qualify for anything. Just need to get rid of the pain so I can take care of my 3 & 4 year olds but can't take the vicodin during the day as I fall asleep.:(

It seems that you are having a hard time right now and I am sorry for that. I do not know much, if anything about this medicine. I just wanted to say we are here if you need to talk. I hope you feel better soon.
