How do I find a forum to show where good doctors are listed for a certain state?

Hi Postie

There is a section of this forum called 'Find a Doctor'. If you state the general area you're interested in, somebody might be able to suggest a rheumatologist or other sort of lupus specialist ( immunologist, dermatologist, hematologist) or even a good internist who could help sort things out for you.

There is also a US Publication called "Good Doctor Guide" for each state or region.
There is also the ACR list of rheumatologists and their special interests. There may be other lists for other specialists. It is of course harder if you are not sure what sort of specialist you need.

I can't seem to find the forum for the doctor listing? Can you explain where it's at.

The two Rheumy's I have gone to have specialized in rheumatology the one for 31 years and mine is 30 years. I still don't have a diagnosis and they are the two best around.

Of course you could be right about the doctors you have already seen but in that case I don't know what you expect to find in rheumatology that's better.

I also can't help wondering about a doctor who says a person has MCTD when there are apparently no relevant symptoms of any sort to even suggest MCTD as a possibility. That is baffling. If that is one of the two you are referring to - maybe that was another one.

Hi Clare

I thought I would try the route to see if there's any listings in my area. It's worth a shot.

The first rheumy that I was going to is an expert in fibro--I know that much because everyone goes to him and he speaks at the conferences at hospitals.

The rheumy I have now is very good (don't know about lupus) because int the obits when people pass away, they have had this doc and they are an excellent doc for what they had him for. Around this area if your doc has done a great job, alot of times they put the doctor's name in there and thanking him for all that he has done.

So I know for sure that my doc is a good one.

I think my problem is I must be one of the cases that is hard to diagnose which I'm sure happens.

My doc also will sit there and he listens to everything you ask and he answers all your questions and writes everything down. He's very nice.

We actually don't have a listing of recommended doctors on our site, but in the section on doctors you can post there and ask for recommendations. You can also search the site too -- to see if anyone has written already about a doctor in the town you live in (or a major town near you might work better).

Do you know some of the symptoms for MCTD? When I checked one site-I didn't have any of the symptoms they listed? Do you happen to know any right off the bat?
