i have been taking magnesium (1,000 mg) for the week before and during my period and i have noticed a slight but significant difference in the inflammation and exhaustion i get around that time. has anyone else ever had that experience?
i am a little worried though as someone told me in passing that this much magnesium could cause a kidney stone :eek::eek::eek:???

Hi ATS,

Personally I don't take it but it is said to have benefits for PMS symptoms.

I guess you aren't taking 1000mg daily it's only for two weeks out of four, however that is a high dosage when recommended levels are around 350-400mg daily. Something to ask your gyn I guess.

Lily, thanks! my psychiatrist i see recommended the magnesium, i guess he didn't tell me the part about 2 weeks a month! he seemed to have experience with lupus patience and magnesium. i am seeing him tomorrow so i will ask him for more information. thank u!
