My doc says there definately is. And i definately feel it. My lupus flares can be brought on easily by stress. If you think about it, medically it makes sense...when your body is under stress it has alot of physiological effects. It can make your blood pressure rise, your heart rate rise...and most importantly for us it makes your immune system go into overdrive as your body feels under attack. At the end of the day-Stress is very bad for everyone, especially us! xxx

Yes, there is a very clear link between stress and worsening lupus symptoms.

There have been other articles posted on the subject previously but this is what I found just now. You need to read down to the third question to see what you are talking about (it concerns those who already have lupus).

I think most people here will confirm that they can see a very cler relation between stress and worsening symptoms. I know I certainly do.

Ohh yes, I should cocoa :worried:

One of the only times my illness is immediately apparent to others is when I am in a flare and under stress. I get so weak from it and the pain worsens..My body can't tolerate even small amounts of stress without flaring

Personally I think that some stress is a good thing, I think it serves a purpose and is a neccesary part of life, but extreme stress is a really different matter, and that definately in my opinion will kick off lupus symptoms and send things out of control, and then it's hard to get things back under control. So I guess like other things in life it is a matter of finding a balance, a stress that keeps you 'sharp' and that which sends you over the edge of the abyss! (just my take on stress anyway!)

Long before I was diagnosed with any AI disease and was a realitively healthy person my body would react negatively to stress. My pcp would always ask me if I were under any stress.

I agree with the others that stress can worsen our symptoms and really make us ill. I do hope you get on with feeling better and are able to get rid of some of the stress in your life. Easier said then done I know.

I did not get a chance to welcome you and I apologize for that. Hope to get to know you better.

"Does Stress Affect Lupus Symptoms? "
Sadly, yes. In my experience the single most distressing part is that I cannot predict what degree of stress will start thingws up. One week I could be laid low by something as minor as meeting two people I know; another time I can deal with friends dying. It makes no sense; I just have to accept it.

Yes, it def does..I am quite obsessive and like things done a certain way..prob have OCD as well!!! anyway I have to learn to relax and calm down becuase even when I am unwell, my mind is going 10 to the dozen thinking of things I should be doing and can't do and then the stress of it all just makes me feel worse...

It is all a balancing act..;)
