Don't Understand At All

Ok so I had these xrays of my knee, shoulder, and lower back. The guy that took them said they would be at my doctors office on the 9th of february. I waited for a call from the rhuemy with what was going on with the xrays. Nothing happened so finally I called to see what was going on a week later. A nurse called me back as was told did not have the xray infor as of yet would have to call and get the report faxed to them. She called me back and said everything was normal. I then get a call from my gp office about the xrays and the nurse said that the pain was arthritis and that they could add a pain pill if I wanted. When I told her that the rhuemy said the xrays were normal she did not know what to say to me. She put me on hold and the doctor came on and said if they got the same report as she did there is arthritis throughout my shoulder, knee, and into my lower back. There is a notable size bone spur in the knee. She said this is the reason for the pain and if I need something stronger than the ultram she could add something. I told her the rhuemy already had done that I think. How can 2 doctors get the same report and have different findings? I just don't understand this at all. Would love to hear a reason for this if any of you have one.

Hi Tammy,

Ummmmmmm your Rheumies nurse is not that competent?

I always try and talk with my Lupus doc not his secretary or anyone else :)

:shrug:TAMMY, I AGREE WITH LILY AND TALK TO YOUR RUEMMY AND NOT THE NURSE. THATS ONE REASON THEY ARE THERE-GET IT STRAIGHT FROM THE HORSE'S MOUTH. THIS IS EXPERIANCE TALKING AS YOU WELL KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO ME LAST WEEK BY TALKING WITH THE DR'S NURSE. PLEASE DON'T MISUNDERSTAND ME . I AM NOT DISCREDITING NURSES AT ALL! I KNOW THEY WORK HARD AND WE DO NEED THEM. JUST MY OPINION THE DR SHOULD CALL PATIENTS BACK ON ANY KIND RESULTS BE IT LABS, OR ANYOTHER KIND OF PROCEDURE. IM SORRY TAMMY THIS IS ALL I CAN THINK OF FOR THE MOMENT. I HOPE IT HELPS YOU HON. TC AND FEEL BETTER !! hOPE TO CHAT WITH YOU SOON. HUGS AND PRAYERS , LAURIE
Tammy sorry to hear that your going through more stress yet again!

Please put a call into the Rhuemi and ask for him and not the nurse to clarify things!

My sister recently had same problem whilst inpatient in hospital after falling down her stairs. MRI taken nurse said no problems showing at all and would be released once Doctors signed her off. Next day (yes it took a whole day for DR to go see her), the doctor told her she had impacted and damaged dics and that her spinal nerve was also damaged and she was lucky it had not severed!!!

Take care and lots of hugs!
Tammy,

I can tell you my experience with this happening to me. Many of my previous MRI scans of the brain will be interpreted in 2 different ways depending on who is reading it.

For example, the Radiologist will give the report and the GP will think it is not that bad and yet my Neurologist will see it differently and also pick up things that the Radiologist did not even see.

I also think you should speak directly to your Rheumy doctor and leave the middle man out of it. She will only confuse you more!

Lily is right and there is some incompetence your dealing with here.
Thank you all for the advise, I will see if I can talk with the rhuemy and what he sees in the xrays. I know the gp said there was a notiable change in the arthritis in the joints, but rhuemy nurse said they were normal. It will all have to wait till monday so in the mean time will just not worry about it as there is nothing to be done on the weekend.
