I have SLE and this summer developed really dry skin on my legs and arms, Sometimes it is really hard and scaley, but when I peel it I bleed like non stop. I have never had this before and it looks really gross likes sores all over my arms and legs. Just the front of my fore arms and the front of my calves. Does anyone have any idea what this may be is it from my lupus, now affecting the skin possibly??? I do get sores on in my mouth and nose and sometimes on my scalp.

Hello Lisa
I don't know what this could be but if you are getting sores elsewhere it suggests the lupus is not well controled. Sounds like time to see a doctor and have a check up.

Meanwhile I suggest not picking at the areas and using something very emollient to keep the skin soft. Cover up too.

Good Luck

Hi Lisa

I do get that too, but mainly on my face, neck and chest and it can be really sore, since I got diagnosed with SLE Lupus and got meds, the sores are stopping and calming down, after a week. I could pat my skin with a towel and they would just bleed. It was awful.
Before I got diagnosed with Lupus many doctors treated me for excema, which of course none of the treatments worked for and it gradually got worse.

I hope you can get to your doc and get an answer soon.

P.S. My doc has also given me cortisone cream for the first little while, until it gets to a stage where it is not so bad.

hi - i wonder if your rashes are kind-of round as well as scaley and bleeding - if so it sounds similar to discoid lupus - i have this on my face and on my arms and the top of my back. it is a good idea to keep them moisturised - my hubby makes me aromatherapy oils - creams just make it sting and greasy!

do try to avoid peeling it - even though this is really tempting :rotfl: as it will make it very sore and it will bleed and bleed and bleed!

you prob need to mention it to your doc who might have you have a biopsy to check.

hope that helps

Howdy Lisa,
Thank you for mentioning this. I had been practicing denial about the thing on my face but from your note and the responses I now have a new symptom to report to the medicos. Whoopee! :hehe:
